Description
Roasted Cacao Nibs – 260 gm | Indian SourcedÂ
Place
Our Cacao Nibs begin on farms in Kerala and Karnataka, where cacao grows in the warm, humid plantation landscapes of South India. By keeping the bean close to its simplest edible form, nibs offer one of the most direct ways to experience the flavour and crunch of Indian cacao.
Season
Cacao nibs are an all-season pantry and professional-kitchen ingredient. Their roasted crunch works with porridge and baked foods in winter, while yoghurt, fruit, ice cream and smoothie bowls make them equally useful through the Indian summer.
Make
Cacao beans are fermented, dried and roasted before their outer shells are removed and the beans are broken into small pieces known as cacao nibs. Unlike a finished chocolate bar, nibs retain cacao’s naturally bitter, roasted and textural character without being transformed into a sweet confection.
Tradition
Nibs take us closer to the cacao bean itself and therefore to the agricultural story behind chocolate. Although cacao cultivation is comparatively recent in India, decades of work with cocoa in Kerala and Karnataka have helped develop a genuine Indian cacao-growing and processing ecosystem.
Modern Use
Sprinkle Indian Cacao Nibs over yoghurt, oats, granola, ice cream, fruit and smoothie bowls; fold them into cookies, brownies, cakes, breads, pastries, pralines and chocolate bark; or use them to add texture to nut butters and desserts. Cacao nibs are also used by beverage professionals for infusions in spirits and cocktails, including cacao-infused vodka and other experimental drinks. We accept bulk orders for bakeries, pastry kitchens, cafés, chocolatiers, confectioners, hospitality businesses and other professional users, subject to availability and order requirements.
